<lj:music>Garbled Japanese Track Title #2</lj:music>

You can tell that it is wearing off if you start to think maybe some other time would have been better.

Weekend events went well. It was necessary. I don't want to talk about Mike...he killed my buzz. Ever since then I have been feeling strange and ignoring his calls. The feeling and the action are not related. I am not getting much work done--even with my course load I feel like I can slide by. I have to study for the LSAT though. Games will kick my butt and if I get below 160...it doesn't even feel that important right now. That is what happens when you enter your ideal self and feel it slip away.

I kind of wish I had stayed at the white party longer and had been prepared to go. What remains of my black nail polish is a fair indicator of how much I clashed.

Dance is getting better. Hannah and I went to today's TA session and I feel more comfortable moving. Once it feels more natural, I think I can at least not embarrass Hannah too much. It's fun. I just wish my shoes would arrive. Cross your fingers for me people.

What else has been going on?
Becca and I started running. Sessions consist of me trying to keep her at a constant speed, but she is too hard on herself if you ask her how she is doing. Becca is in pretty good shape--at least she can run a mile(+) and hold a conversation the entire time.

I have been thinking about starting a new journal. There isn't any purpose in it...I just like fresh starts. Ha, I actually started writing a short story some time ago. Maybe I'll post it if I feel like criticism. I just want to find my own style for everything.

Maybe I'll go make a new one now. At least it can thin out the dead journals.

I had my first dance class! Too bad I am horrible, because it was a lot of fun. Hannah might have to be a little more patient with me than expected, but I also have to dance with other people...and they have no idea. The horror. My dancing...not so good.

Other classes are great: I will be having slight issues juggling my schedule. I'm taking about 30% more units than I should be and apparently Dash, the twins, and I are doing a panel discussion for international symposium day? In other words the workload is going to keep increasing over the next few weeks as projects get piled on. Maybe I'll drop something. Who knows.

Not really any other news.

I love gossip.

I nearly freaked when I saw a commercial for a "delicious" food item that looked like mochi. I knew it had to be something else, so I waited and sure enough...it was for transportable cheese. ooook.

Leaving for school Thursday. Three more loads of laundry need to be done between now and then.

My anthro seminar is starting with a heavy amount of mythical beasts from China. One is a bird who calls its name, "Ben! Ben!" It looks like a magpie and is easily frightened. My book goes on like that for another 200 pages I think.

Another one of these things. Leave a comment so that I have something to reply to and I will:
1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - a song, a color, an image, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you. (I'll choose a different one than I have before.)
5. Associate you with a fictional character (or several characters, if you are that awesome).
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7.
So I will be close to Chicago yet again this school year. Might as well take advantage of the location and see some concerts. My research has been less than fulfilling, so if anyone knows of a good one coming up, send the information along. Yes, I am aware that TBM is playing in September, but I saw something on a message board about them incorporating rap? I think I will wait and see.

For the LSAT, I officially want a score about ten points higher. Questions seem formulaic (who would have guessed?) so a little practice won't kill me. I have a whole book on the test who assures me of that. I just don't want to end up in a safety school. :-/

In other news, my sister went to the emergency room. Popped some sort of blister on her hand...now they just need to lance the one on her ear. I wonder if the hand blister was from a piercing too.

And damn, around twenty days until Beloit? I need to fight more Connecticut junkies in preparation! P-Pow. Preparation for begging my old adviser to let me into his logic class.

I just saw a vid of Daisuke's live performance with his new band! Still kicking ass! Thank you, Germany.

I blame Nixon. Maybe a lot of the legal problems in America started around then. At least he was ousted. The US started with some good stuff. Slaughterhouse-Five, Silent Spring, gender and ethnic equality movements, a lot of good impetus for making laws. When did it start going downhill I wonder. Judges suing dry-cleaners for hundreds of thousands of dollars for temporarily misplaced suits, RIAA, leased software, morally repugnant consumer contracts...and the worst part is a good deal of this is based on legalist doctrine. I just don't know what to think.

Atlus, the game developer behind the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series, holds monthly contests where someone who registered a game or subscribed to the newsletter wins a "cool prize." I won! Apparently. In November. I got some stuff from Irvine California, the place where the company is located, but my parents didn't give me the envelope until today. I will probably be pissed later after I am over the cool stuff I got: a harmonica key chain and an Atlus strap with Jack Frost, a kind of mascot, on it.

Almost makes up for that terrible game Rule of Rose.

Edit: Oh Sartre, will you be my daddy?

Found three authors and two bands that got kicked to the head of my list(s). Excited!!!!

I haven't even started battling yet and Innocent Sin is already...something. Something special at least. The themes are far different from Eternal Punishment. <lj:music>Jacob's Ladder</lj:music>

Technically getting back and my first update being a quiz (friends-only for the protection of those who respond! So respond!) is pretty lame, but hey, can't really say I've done much.

Ate real meat, translated some D'espairs Ray lyrics, unpacked (partially)...adjusting to time difference...isn't happening. Need to figure out the Minnesota thingy too. Need to play Persona 2: Innocent Sin!!! I've only been waiting six years or so for it.

On the plane, something cool happened. I was reading a manga (title something like Monster Princess) and I really didn't need my dictionary for it after figuring out some key words. So I was reading it and the guy sitting next to me said "Are you actually reading that in Japanese?" and I got to say "Yes!" It was special.

That manga is actually something Drew might be interested in. When I was paging through it I thought "ultra violent" but it's not as bad as I thought. It's good. The hero repeatedly dies as the princess (whose blood resurrects people) runs around a mansion with a chainsaw after an invisible man who set razor-thin wire traps (the kind the guy from Hellsing used). I like it at least.

Nobody should read the manga "Goth" though...unless you are severely desensitized to violence.

Anyway...back in the US! Drop me messages.

    <lj:music>"Closer to Ideal" -- D'espairs Ray</lj:music>

So apparently I screwed up her name--according to the email it is actually "Svenja." She came through with the songs though! My new favorite person.

I find myself still giddy from the concert! It started off kind of metal, and at some point everything went quiet, the lights turned blue and centered on Hizumi, and he said "Squall" before diving into the new single. AMAZING.

I think it was during the first encore that I managed to touch Hizumi and Zero's guitar. I was lucky enough to be second/thirdish row. Oh, and one of the few guys there--there were a lot but nothing compared to the screaming fangirls. When things got violent, I was kind of like "uhh what?" as the Japanese girls slammed into my back.

First encore was Reddish. Second encore was more of a medley, but I think there was another round of "Squall." THIRD encore though--"Tatoeba." That alone was worth going for.

Now back to listening to Mirror and studying for the kanji final.

I am on a Japanese comp right now and I have to be quick.

I got info on the new band with the singer from Kagerou. I touched Hizumi. My ears are ringing. If you want details on how incredible it was, let me know. The concert was better than I had imagined. I will post more about that when I have time.

I met a girl named Svetja.

Plans fell through for today--so I made new ones and saw the Golden Pavillion and some water place.
